I totally agree. I have had almost every hairstyle there is. Weaves, braids, colored it red and now I am wearing lock extensions (My hair is longer than the extensions, so I think I will cut them off). I just like to change my hair. I don't wear locks because of a "spiritual" thing. I wear then because I like them. Hair does not defined who you are in the inside. As you put it: "hair is hair is hair is HAIR".

@Mr And I am not a "superficial, trending following fool." You are extremely judgmental and know nothing about my demeanor nor anything about my sense of style..So I don't even know how you came to this conclusion. Perhaps you are upset that people can mimic the look of deadlocks without having to actually grow them out, but that's your issue--not mine. I don't identify with a "race". There is no such THING as race. You need to take a few college courses. Maybe you'll learn something. Peace

You are taking this way too personally... I wasn't saying a lock journey is silly. I know a lot of women who document journeys of them locking their hair and I think it's cool. However, what I think is silly is people who say "locking your hair for a style is stupid because it's about a "spiritual" journey. Um, who cares? Going natural can also be a journey. My hair is natural, but I don't knock women who wear fake natural hair. But like I said..hair is hair is hair is HAIR. Take a chill pill.

@Xinoutorah there's nothing 'silly' about 'lock journeys', obviously it means something to people, otherwise they'd have permed or loose natural hair. saying that people who go on these natural hair or lock journeys for spiritual reason's is silly, is admitting in the same breath that you are a superficial, trend following fool. its great that you like to be trendy, and do what is a cute for the moment, but some people take the health of their hair and the identification of their race seriously

@ladiiphresh1996 It's a very time consuming and expensive process if you pay someone to do it; not really something one would want to do in the name of fashion especially if you want this style often.

@deanglo90 If you learned how to do it yourself you would have saved alot of money. These shops charge alot because it takes alot of time. I did mine for $60 because I brought the hair and did them myself. I have only had to rewrap 2 with more hair since I had them. You didn't have to allow them to keep adding more hair to your hair.

Mekhat opened her own salon specializing in natural hair including locks and various braiding techniques. Her decision helped set a trend that can be seen through out St. Louis. As the owner of the signature Napps hair salon, Mekhat has used her knowledge of culture to emphasize on the critical importance of individuality and maintaining healthy hair. Her 18-year quest to detangle the myths of Good Hair has finally become a topic that mainstream America is beginning to understand.
